Enhancing students’ employability by bringing students and French-speaking professionals together is the aim of SALC – French Studies (University of Manchester).
Guest speakers – including an alumnus who works in a bilingual role on the sales team of specialist steel company Ascometal – will talk about their educational background, their professional profile and their experience. They will focus on their linguistic needs when they began working with French, what went well, whether certain skills needed improvement and if conversational and/or written French was needed. They will also discuss cultural differences between French and British companies.
Janet Willis, a careers consultant at the University of Manchester will talk about what French graduates do when they make direct use of their language skills, and she will share her data with you.
Finally, the event involves a workshop giving advice and tips on writing a CV in French and on being interviewed face-to-face and by telephone.
Open to everybody – limited amount of places, please book in advance!
