Cycle “Grande Guerre” : focusing on the 100th Anniversary of the Great War, the Alliance Française de Manchester is organising a rich and varied French film programme for members and non-members alike.

Based on the eponymous novel by Sébastien Japrisot, five French soliders find themselves accused of shooting each other in order to escape the horrors of the battle of the Somme. A court-martial decides to punish them by leaving them for dead in no-mans land. Do they all die? What happens next? One of the soldiers’ fiancees, Mathilde, receives information that her lover might still be alive. Thus begins her search…
