Le Ciné-Club: Do You Speak Malentendu ?
Betty Fisher et autres histoires
@ Alliance française de Manchester
£2 members, £3 non-members
Our new cycle will explore this notion through 3 specially selected movies.
NB: This session only will begin at 5pm with an intervention by Stéphanie Vivier, French artist, on the pathology of language and its presence in contemporary art, sound poetry and literature:
(1) How can these troubles generate artistic production?
(2) How close are these distorted language codes to poetic and visual artistic endeavour?
This lecture will be delivered in French and translated into English.
Two women, two worlds: Betty Fisher, a talented young writer who has discovered the joys of motherhood with her son Joseph; Carole, a waitress in a bar, who has not had an easy life and who is often impatient and rough with her child, José.
Film with English subtitles. Snacks & wine after the film
